San Francisco

I was asked to attend as a female Chaperone for my 15 year old daughter’s school field trip to San Francisco. This was my first time going to San Francisco, California. So, I was pretty excited about checking out the city. ( May 13-My 20, 2018)

Alcatraz Island Tour – The first day of San Francisco tour, we arrived at the pier 33 for Alcatraz tour. Be aware that there is no parking for pier 33, we parked at Pier 27 which was near by and didn’t have to walk very much and it was an easy access. I also found this web site that shows where you can park. https://www.alcatrazcruises.com/plan-your-trip/parking/

For Alcatraz Island tour, bring a jacket. The wind was pretty strong and I felt like a winter. I got some coffee to get myself warm. I recommend doing a audio tour.

Alcatraz Island

Pier 39 – After we finished the Alcatraz tour, we went to Pier 39 to get some lunch. Many dining options were available and Pier 39 is known for dining, shopping, and attractions. We went to a crepes place for lunch and got some edible cookie dough for desert! It was a good choice for us.

California Academy of Sciences – The second day of the trip, we went to the San Francisco Zoo and the Science museum.

San Francisco Zoo is a small but seems well kept. There are lots of beautiful trees and the animal seems to be happy. There is a nice cafe where many options are available but a little bit pricey side. All in all I recommend going to visit the Zoo. Parking is $10.

Science museum is a natural history museum with an aquarium, planetarium and a research institute. There is a nice park outside where you can enjoy the view and the weather and eat lunch if you brought a sack lunch.

We had a quick dinner at a fast food restaurant with nice view.

Big Bus Tour – The 3rd day, we took a San Francisco Big Bus tour. We got to learn about the history of the San Francisco. We also got to go over the Golden Gate Bridge. Let me tell you about the wind…. It was STRONG WIND. I recommend you hold on to your cap or just put it on your lap so, it doesn’t get brown away.

After we had a quick lunch, we went to the China town. It sort of reminded of South Korea where I was born and raised. There are a lot of little shops and things to look at. Fortune cookie factory was fun as well. We got to taste warm fortune cookies.

All in all, it was a short trip and I wish we had a little more time in San Francisco, but we had other places where we were required to go for school activity.
